Students will use water, sand, gravel, and soil, and a one-liter plastic bottle to set up an activity that will represent sedimentation and layering. They will describe weathering, erosion, and sedimentation and relate those processes to explain why the Appalachian Mountains are more rounded than the Rocky Mountains.
