ESCAPE COHORT 1

Seven Orange County California School Districts are currently participating in professional development activities, including weeklong Summer Institutes in Earth, Life, and Physical Sciences, which take place at all three partner’s institutions. The teachers then implement the innovative arts and science lessons in their classrooms to help students better develop the academic language needed to understand scientific concepts and support the research through testing and reflection. Segerstrom Center for the Arts provides teaching artists who come to the classroom to assist teachers with the visual and performing arts components. Orange County Department of Education plans and hosts follow-up professional development throughout the academic year.
